Autumn in East Devon is very special – a time of stunning colours when some of the trees compete with the reds of the Triassic cliffs. The varied walking programme on this break will take you through woodlands and the not-to-bemissed delights of contrasting coastal and riverside routes.

The walks for these holidays will be selected from the following:

1 Circular walk from hotel begins with a steady climb up Salcombe Hill [500 feet] via the coastal path then inland to the Donkey sanctuary. Then to Dunscombe Cliffs and the village of Salcombe Regis.  Back by coastal path. Moderate 7 miles.

2 Transport to Otterton. Walk to Ladram Bay, coastal path to Otter mouth, then along the river Otter back to Otterton . Circular walk of 5.5 miles, undulating, easy.

3 Transport to Budleigh Salterton.  Circular walk from seafront inland through Knowle to the old railway line and then a gradual ascent to the cliff tops overlooking Exmouth, then back to Budleigh. 5 miles easy.

4 Transport to Branscombe village. The walk climbs up through Hazelwood [400 feet], past Beer caves to the village of Beer. Return along spectacular coast path via Beer Head [steady 400 feet climb] and Branscombe Mouth. 6.5 miles moderate.

5 Circular walk from hotel begins with a steady climb up Bulverton Hill to Salters Cross [600 feet] . Follow the ridge path across Mutters Moor to the coast at Peak Hill. Then back to Sidmouth.  4.5 miles easy after the initial climb.

6 Transport to Otterton.  Walk along the River Otter to meet the sea and then follow the coast path eastwards via Ladram Bay and High Peak back to Sidmouth.  8 miles moderate.

7 From hotel a flat stroll along the Byes following the river Sid to Sidford and back. 3 miles easy.

8  From hotel up to Mutters Moor [600 feet] and down the Otter Valley to Otterton. Return via High Peak [500 feet] and the coast path. 7 miles moderate.

In addition to these organised walks advice on self-guided alternatives will be available for individuals wishing to walk further on their own, and shorter walks for those who want something gentler. These may involve use of own or public transport. The final choice of led walks for each holiday will depend on the mix of walkers.

What shall I bring?" we recommend you come prepared for all weathers, regardless of the month you visit. Comfortable walking boots are recommended, as is clothing for wet weather.  (Don’t worry we have a boot room where you can dry your walking gear). A Camera is a must to capture the magnificent views but please leave all of the other details to us.
