Situated in the valley where the River Sid meets the sea and nestled beneath majestic red cliffs and green hills, walking is the ideal way to discover this beautiful landscape during the summer months.

East Devon is a beautiful area to explore by foot. The terrain varies from delightful meadow land/river valleys, and sandy bays/pebble beaches, to cliffs and hills of up to 500 metres giving spectacular views.

The walks are graded ‘moderate’ because you need a reasonable level of fitness.

Most walks are 6-8 miles, but they are generously timed for your enjoyment.

There will be 4 main walks, with an option of a free day, or to join a short walk to Sidford and/or a guided hertiage tour around Sidmouth.

Transport to Otterton. Walk along the west side of River Otter to the sea at Budleigh Salterton. Then follow an inland route along the old railway line with a gradual ascent to arrive on the coast path on the cliffs at West Down. Then back along the coast path to Budleigh. Transport back to Hotel.

Transport to Beer. Follow the coast path from Beer to Branscombe Mouth and then inland around the quaint Branscombe village. Return by inland route through Hazelwood and past Beer Caves back to Beer. Transport back to hotel.

Walk from hotel to the east to the coast path up Salcombe Hill. Then inland to the Donkey Sanctuary. Rejoin the coast path at Dunscombe Cliffs and walk back to Sidmouth via the pretty village of Salcombe Regis.

Walk from hotel west up Bulverton Hill, then cross Muttersmoor to the coast path at High Peak. Follow the coast path to Ladram Bay. Then follow a route partly along the coast and partly inland to the pretty village of Otterton. Transport back to hotel.

Meals: Packed lunches are provided on walking days

Activity Level: Leisurely, 4 days' of walking, average of 6 - 8 miles

"What shall I bring?" we recommend you come prepared for all weathers, regardless of the month you visit. Comfortable walking boots are recommended, as is clothing for wet weather.  (Don’t worry we have a boot room where you can dry your walking gear). A Camera is a must to capture the magnificent views but please leave all of the other details to us.
